WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app. WhatsApp is continuously adding many useful features to its app. After adding the end to end encryption to ensure the secure communication between the sender and receiver, it has now introduced two-step verification for enhanced security.
WhatsApp has officially added the Two-Step verification to its app across Android, iOS and Windows Phone. After enabling the 2-Step verification, the user has to enter a six-digit password every time they want to verify their number. The importance of this feature is that if someone else tries to verify your number, they have to enter the six digit password in order to get succeed. How to Enable Two-Step Verification on WhatsApp?
Open WhatsApp. Go to settings and choose Account Settings.
Select Two-step verification from the options. After tapping on ‘Two-step verification’, a green button with Enable written on it will be seen. Tap on ‘Enable’ button.
After tapping on ‘Enable’ button enter six digit passcode. Make sure to choose a unique password so that it won’t be easy for others to guess. You will be asked to confirm your passcode. Confirm your passcode by entering your passcode again.
Note: Please do not reveal your password to other as it will lose the purpose of two-step verification.
After confirming six-digit passcode you will be asked to enter your email address to your account. This email address will be used to reset your password if you forget it and safeguard your account. Do add your email account so that you won’t lose access to your account in case you forgot your six-digit passcode.
However, if you don’t want to add your email address, you can skip this step. WhatsApp doesn’t take any additional step to verify your email address, so please make sure that you enter your correct email address.
After adding and confirming your email address, tap on ‘Save’. Now your two-step verification is enabled. From now onwards to you verify your phone number, you will be asked to enter the six-digit passcode.
This will enable your Two-Step Verification.

If you wish to disable this then go to Settings>Two-step verification>Disable
