Xiaomi Mi 5, was launched at New Delhi, India today on March 31. It is the flagship smartphone by Xiaomi for this year. The design is inspired by the Mi Note series and a little hint of Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Xiaomi calls the body a “3D ceramic body”. It has a metal frame and glass panels at the rear and front with a fingerprint scanner at its home button. The full HD display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Xiaomi launched three memory variants in China 16,32,128GB but India will only get 16GB and 32GB memory variants. Let’s check out it features and specifications:
Xiaomi Mi 5 Display
Mi 5 features a 5.1-inch IPS LCD fullHD (1080x1920p) display with a pixel density of 428ppi. Xiaomi claims that Mi 5 has a very vibrant display with 600-nit brightness, and is 17% more power efficient.
Xiaomi Mi 5 Performance
It runs Android Marshmallow v6 and the latest version of MIUI 7.0. It is powered by Quad-core Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 1.3GHz and coupled with 3GB of RAM. The graphics are boosted by Adreno 530.
There are two memory variants, 16GB, and 32GB. It does not support microSD card expansion.
Xiaomi Mi 5 Camera
The rear camera is a 16-megapixel Sony IMX298 sensor with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection, autofocus, OIS (4-axis). The new axis spec allows it to take long shots and better low light and moving object imaging. It shoots videos at 2160p@30fps, 1080p@30fps and 720p@120fps.
The front camera is a 4-megapixel snapper with f/2.0 aperture, 1/3″ sensor size and can record full HD videos at 30fps.
Xiaomi Mi 5 Battery
It has a battery capacity of 3,000mAh and it is non-removable. It supports fast charging and can charge up to 83% in 30min with QuickCharge 3.0.
Xiaomi Mi 5 Price
The 32GB memory variant is priced at Rs.24999 which was more than anyone expected. The price for 16GB memory variant will be updated soon.
The flagship smartphone by Xiaomi is available in Black, White, Gold and Ceramic color variants. It does not support memory expansion, which is a drawback as 16GB devices are just not enough these days. It is compatible with VoLTE and also supports 4G+. Mi 5 is the first device to offer UFS 2.0 storage. UFS( Universal Flash Storage) 2.0 is the next-generation flash memory storage specification in the world.
