It was rumoured that LG will launch its flagship smartphone during MWC 2016 but LG has now confirmed that it will be launching its latest flagship smartphone, the LG G5 on 21 February. The announcement was made by LG through its social media page on facebook.
LG Mobile posted a gif image on their facebook page. LG wrote, “Time for some play! With new friend comes new fun. Excitement begins at Barcelona on February 21st. #LG #LGG5 #G5.” The image posted on the facebook page says “Come meet the new friends on the playground. LG G5 Day.” The launch event by the LG will be held at 2pm at Sant Jordi Club in Barcelona. Samsung is also hosting its event on the same day and expected to launch its flagship Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

According to the latest rumours LG G5 is expected to feature a 5.3 inch Quad-HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display. It will also have a secondary Ticker Display with resolution of 160×1040 as we have seen in LG V10. LG G5 is said to have Snapdragon 820 64-bit Quad-core processor along with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 530 GPU.
According to earlier leaks, LG G5 is said to have dual real camera setup. It will have 16 mega-pixel rear camera with 135 degree wide-angle view. It will also have an 8 mega-pixel front facing camera. In addition to this LG G5 may include fingerprint sensor on the back side below the camera module. There might be retina scanner included in the smartphone.
Other connectivity features may include 3G, 4G LTE, GPS, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, micro USB. It is rumoured to have 2800mAh non removable battery.
