Moto G 3rd Generation getting Android 6.0 OTA Update in India

Last month the company has started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to the users of Moto G 3rd Gen in U.S.A and Canada. Now the company has confirmed about the latest update in India by tweet, stating “Here is something new and amazing for your Moto G (3rd Gen.), the Android 6.0 Marshmallow!”

 The Indian Moto G 3rd Gen with model number XT1550 has started receiving Android Marshmallow update over-the-air (OTA). The weight of the update is around 2GB and version is named 24.11.25.en.US. The OTA update is rolling out in phases and it will take some time to reach on your devices.

India users of Motorola Moto G 3rd Gen can check for the update manually by going to Settings > About Phone > System Update.

The Moto G 3rd gen will get all the features which are included in the Android 6.0 Marshmallow such as Google Now on Tap feature, revamped app permissions, finger print API’s for other developers, and some Google security patches.

There are also some Moto-specific changes which will be seen after updating to the latest version of the Android. The most visible change after the android update includes the removal of Moto Assist feature. According to the company, reason behind the removal of Moto Assist is that Android 6.0 Marshmallow includes ‘Do Not Disturb’ option under the setting ‘Sound and Notifications’ that performs similar function as that of Moto Assist.

According to Motorola after update, phone will get all new Memory Manager to check memory usage of all installed apps; Ram Manager in setting will allow users to view memory used by system or individual App during different time frames; System UI tuner that will appear at the bottom in setting menu when enabled.

Other features that will be included in Motorola are Moto Display which will replace the Ambient Display. Doze, the battery management feature in which phone will go in deep sleep mode when phone is not in use and thus saves battery. There will be option to use external microSD card as portable storage or as internal memory. But after using the memory card as internal memory, that memory can’t be used in other device after that.
