Xiaomi Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Note to receive Android Marshmallow

Marshmallow Update for Mi Devices

After news of Motorola rolling out Android Marshmallow updates,Xiaomi Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Note are ready to recieve updates soon.Xiaomi says that the devices are in final testing stage.

Here’s what will come with the new updates for Mi devices:

The new OTA update will update the phones to android v6.0 Marshmallow and with that there will also be a newer version of MIUI7,

Xiaomi released a MIUI 7 ROM based on Android 5.1 Lollipop and did not appeal to the users.Now a user of chinese website Weibo posted a screenshot on the MIUI 5.12.24 update based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The phone which is first in the lineup for the update is Mi Note and Mi 4 flagship smartphone.Xiaomi Mi 4 was launched in 2014 and ran Android 4.4 Kitkat and the  Mi Note which was unveiled this year also ran on Android 4.4 Kitkat version.Xiaomi released the Android Lollipop based MIUI 7 ROMs in October which was relatively late than other brands.

What does MIUI 7 pack?

MIUI 7 comes with features such like

  • four built-in themes.
  • a lock screen wallpaper that updates daily.
  • lock apps with password or other security options.

Xiaomi claims that the MIUI 7 offers up to 30 percent better response time than MIUI 6.MIUI 7 also offers battery efficiency and keeps it light on battery consumption.There are some tweaks on the operating system which handles the background apps,reducing the battery consumption.

There are also rumours that claim that there is no update for the MIUI and only and update for the android ROM.The beta ROM which will be released before the OTA is meant for experimental purposes and novice users should not update to the ROM.It will be best to wait for a stable official OTA update which will be released in a few months or so.Be sure to be connected to a Wi-Fi network for the update as it is going to be a big one.
